چکیده

Shot-peening treatment was applied to a quenched and tempered DIN 34CrNiMo6 steel improve its high-cycle R: −1 axial fatigue strength. Compared with the machined condition, increase in limit 21.8%. S-N curves for shot-peened as condition were presented compared those obtained previous research rotating bending fatigue, including mirror-polished specimens. The shot-peening this work (Isp: 8A 200% coverage) (Q + T) introduced compressive residual stress field an surface roughness, well minor variations microstructure, hardness FWHM (full width of diffraction peak at half maximum intensity) parameter. tended reduce when external is applied. This due onset plastic strain. In paper, two types quasi-static tests conducted by applying six different magnitudes directions (compressive or tensile). order assess their influence on relaxation stresses. Monotonic and Cyclic Behavior of DIN 34CrNiMo6 Tempered Alloy Steel

This paper aims at studying the monotonic and cyclic plastic deformation behavior of DIN 34CrNiMo6 high strength steel. Monotonic and low-cycle fatigue tests are conducted in ambient air, at room temperature, using standard 8-mm diameter specimens. The former tests are carried out under position control with constant displacement rate. The latter are performed under fully-reversed strain-contro...

Influence of Residual Stress on Fatigue Life of Hot Forged and Shot Blasted Steel Components

Hot forging is a common manufacturing process for the production of large quantities of engineering components. Residual stresses are developed in forged components as a result of various aspects of the manufacturing process, including subsequent cooling, and heat treatment. Residual stresses can significantly affect the deformation and fatigue failure of materials. Hot forged EN15R steel bars ...

Thermoelectric Nondestructive Evaluation of Residual Stress in Shot-Peened Metals

This paper presents a noncontacting thermoelectric method that can be used to characterize the prevailing residual stress in shot-peened specimens. This novel method is based on magnetic detection of local thermoelectric currents in the compressed near-surface layer of metals when a temperature gradient is established throughout the specimen. Besides the primary residual stress effect, the ther...
